LocateHistory

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

LocateHistory is a free history-guessing game. It doesn't have accounts, doesn't run ads, and doesn't sell anything — so there isn't much to collect. Here's the complete list of what does happen.

Site analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see roughly how many people play and which countries they're playing from. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't use local storage, and doesn't fingerprint your device — it can't tell one visit of yours from another, and nobody at LocateHistory can identify you individually from it.

What stays on your device

The game remembers two things in your browser's local storage, purely so it works properly when you come back:

Neither of these is ever sent anywhere — they live only in your own browser, and clearing your browser data clears them.

Who else is involved

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data (like your IP address) just to serve you the page and protect it from abuse, the same as any web host. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a direct request to Google's servers for the typefaces this page uses. Everything else — the map, the historical photos, the game logic — is served directly from this site with no other third party involved.

Children's privacy

LocateHistory doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 — there's simply no mechanism on the site that collects personal information from any visitor.
